What sort of club are we?
Clubs vary, just as people vary, so it's worth an attempt to give a feel of
what we're about.
We're a friendly and informal group of people with a common interest in
diving. We take safety to be the highest priority, and all diving activity
is closely controlled in accordance with BSAC guidelines. We dive mostly
at weekends, with quite a few longer trips, especially over Bank Holidays.
Travel times make the South Coast easiest to get to, but we also travel as far
as Cornwall, Scotland and abroad.
We dive for fun. We're not a specialist Club, so if Trimix or
rebreathers are your thing, we'll do our best to point you on to another club in
the region which might suit you better. Having said that, quite a few of our
members are trained in Nitrox and other specialisms, and while we have plenty of
members who are content just to go and meet a few fish, there are plenty of
others who will plan and undertake more challenging dives. We have a
significant number of members holding the BSAC Advanced Diver
qualification (likely to involve hundreds rather than dozens of dives) and
several BSAC Advanced Instructors. Several members have an interest
in underwater photography.
We welcome visitors, including members of other clubs and
organisations. We have always welcomed beginners - continuous gradual
training from beginner to expert is an essential part of our
"culture".
