Equipment is provided during initial training

The Club maintains several sets of equipment for use by new members while they complete their first training course, so you don't need to spend a lot of money up-front.  The first year's membership costs a little more to reflect this.  Before long, you'll probably want to start assembling your own kit.

Here's what you'll (eventually) need:

bulletMask: may be fitted with prescription lenses if needed
bulletFins (warning: it's considered very unhip to call them "Flippers"!)
bulletSuit: If you want to dive most of the year in the UK you'll need aSemi-dry or the more expensive dry-suit.  Plus boots, gloves.  (All that rubber...!)
bulletBuoyancy Jacket: provides "lift" in the water
bulletWeightbelt:  counters the body's natural buoyancy.  Quick-release.
bulletDictionary: for spelling bouyancy buoyency buoyancy...
bulletRegulator: delivers air from your tank to your mouthpiece at the correct pressure.
bulletTank: typically 10, 12 or 15 litres.

Anyone in the club will help with advice on what to get and when and where to buy it.
